‘Everything Begins Elsewhere’ borrows from the realm of the quantum world, and aims to visualize the scientific exploration of the unknown. Everything is open to theoretical conjecture. There’s infinite latitude for artistic supposition of subatomic, entangled particles, waves, cosmology, quantum theory, and their applications.
“The race to further understand and eventually harness the potential power of the quantum world is well underway, with each year bringing scientists closer to technologies such as quantum computers and quantum encryption.” Eric Lucero
Annie Clavel is a French artist. She grew up in Paris where she studied mathematics and computer science. She moved from France to California in 2006. Once in the US, she created Les Jolis Trésors Art Gallery in Long Beach, and managed it from 2009 to 2014.
In this show, she wants to emphasize the paths between universes as her artistic approach. Her vision of quantum mechanics helps her in relating parallel universes to each other. There is a similarity between these universes and life's mental processes (consciousness, dreaming, mathematics) — and they’re all interconnected.
In her paintings, she explores the duality between her scientific perceptions and her creative life. She imagines mathematical theories in color, shapes, light, and movement. Her colorful surfaces depict universes driven by quantum mechanics, and mathematical concepts.
